Summersville Regional Medical Center
opened it’s doors to serve the community in
March, 1968. Originally it was an Extended Care
Facility known as the Summersville
Convalescent Home, operating as such for a
period of approximately two years. Hospital care
as well as obstetrical care was added and in
2010 the name was changed to Summersville
Regional Medical Center.
The first hospital Administrator was E. C.
Fairchild, followed by Landis Hudkins, Don
Smith, Gregory D. Johnson, David H. Lackey,
Dennis Burns and finally Deborah Hill - the
current administrator.
The hospital is owned by the City of
Summersville and managed by the SRMC Board
of Trustees.
Currently Summersville Regional Medical Center
has 53 acute beds and 52 extended care beds
and employs more that 500 people.
In 1996 Summersville Regional Medical Center
opened the Ambulatory Care Center which now
is home to several physician offices, physical
therapy, and many other services. This building
is located next to the hospital.
Future plans are to construction of a new
Extended Care Facility on another site on the
property.
In addition to the hospital itself, Summersville
Regional Medical Center also operates satellite
sites at the Ansted Medical Clinic located at:
101 Florence Street, Ansted, WV
Richwood Family Practice Located at:
74 Avenue B Richwood, WV
and also the Sleep Diagnostics Center for sleep
disorders.
