RMC has added a new Donor Board which proudly displays the names of those generous community members who have assisted SRMC and SMH over the years. The Board recognizes contributions from 1968 to the present and has special display features for current fundraisers. The display is very fluid and can be changed to reflect new donors within minutes. The 2011 focus for SRMC is to raise $150,000 towards the purchase of new AED units. An AED is a device that monitors heart rhythms and allows appropriately trained providers to “shock” the heart back into rhythm. SRMC currently has AED units but they are of various ages and models. IN order to provide the utmost in patient safety, it is imperative that facility equipment be standardized so that any trained staff member can respond in an emergency to any area of the campus and have immediate ability to use the equipment. The units cost over $13,000 each. T he month from the 2011 Gala and Golf tournament will support this endeavor. IN addition donors may desire to purchase a unit and have a plaque displayed on the unit indicating the donor and/or who they are honoring with the purchase.

May 8-14 is National Hospital Week, National Nursing Home Week and National Nursing Week. This national celebration is an opportunity for SRMC to give special recondition to the 500+ staff members who make care possible for this community. SRMC is blessed to have a caring and competent staff who have dedicated their life and career to caring. Each staff member and provider is important at SRMC. It takes a true team to provide the care, keep the facility equipment and buildings running smoothly, prepare the records, prepare the bills, collect the money, clean the rooms, prepare the meals, assist the patients and provide the treatments, tests and plans for care. SRMC will celebrate with a host of staff functions including administration cooking breakfast for the staff on Monday, a formal employee recognition dinner on Tuesday, ice cream socials on Wednesday, a Veterans recognition service on Thursday (Sponsored by Redi Care ambulance) and a picnic on Friday. The week will end with a Community Health Fair to be held at the Summersville Arena and Conference Center. |
