SRMC celebrated National Volunteer Week with a dinner for the
volunteers at Visions Restaurant in Flatwoods. SRMC volunteers serve
the community in the long term care unit, by driving visitors, patients
and staff in the golf carts, transporting patients from the surgery area to
their cars, assisting with mail delivery, running the blood drive and
many other activities. They are a true asset to SRMC and words can
never express our gratitude for all that they do.

SRMC kicks off Community Health Needs Assessment
SRMC hosted a community health forum at the Summersville Arena and Conference Center on
June 27, 2012. Joan Lewis of the American Hospital Association was the key speaker. Other
speakers included Dr. Yancy Short and Robert Whitler, Executive Director of Partners in Health.
The purpose of the forum was to educate the public on the community health needs
assessment requirement and process. The process will educate the public on what SRMC
offers, determine where our service area is and what the needs of the consumers in that
service area are. The goal is to keep people healthy. Debbie Hill, CEO noted that the
Community Needs Assessment would help guide the hospital's planning over the next three
years in regards to community education, services and physician recruitment. The participants
were asked to complete a survey regarding Community Health Needs. All community
members are encouraged to complete the survey and return it to the hospital by one of the
following methods.
